SCAPE Group have raised a staggering £17,629 this year for Alex’s Wish, a Mountsorrel-based charity.

The charity raises much-needed funds to invest into clinical trials and clinical research with a view to finding new treatments and – ultimately – a cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy

Scape Group was introduced to Alex’s Wish by Emma Lawrence, an employee at their head office, who put Alex’s Wish forward for consideration as Scape Group’s Charity of the Year.

After choosing to support Alex’s Wish, Scape Group began to plan their year-long fund-raising campaign, which included a golf day with staff and partners, fielding a large Scape Group team in an X-runner event and a quiz which involved staff, clients and suppliers.

Mark Robinson, Scape Group chief executive, said: “Each year Scape Group employees nominate charities that they would like us to support. Emma was incredibly passionate about Alex’s Wish and it felt like a local charity that we could all really get behind.

“The team, along with our delivery partners have, as always put their all into to raising as much money as possible with activities including a golf day, the X Runner and topped off with a fantastic quiz night.

“I am incredibly proud of the amount raised and would like to thank Thomas Dearman, Scape Group marketing assistant for coordinating the activities.”

Emma Lawrence, Scape Group graphic designer, added: “I have known Emma Hallam for some time and when the charity of the year came around I couldn’t think of a more worthwhile cause for my colleagues and I to get behind.”

Emma Hallam, Founder of Alex’s Wish, said: “I can’t thank Scape Group enough.

“They have been wonderfully supportive and I want to say a huge thank you to their whole team for the time and effort they have put into their 2019 events.

“Their money will go directly into funding the research and clinical trials necessary to find treatments and, ultimately, a cure for this horrific life-limiting condition – Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

“Companies like Scape Group are so very important to us and we are very grateful for their support.”

Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy is a muscle-wasting disease affecting one in every 3,500 boys born. At present, it is 100 per cent fatal and children are unlikely to live beyond their twenties.
