SHEPSHED DYNAMO 1

ANSTEY NOMADS 2

SHEPSHED Dynamo suffered their second home defeat in seven days after going down 2-1 to Leicestershire Rivals Anstey Nomads at The Dovecote Stadium on Saturday.

Dynamo have only taken one point out of their last threes starts. A result which leaves Shepshed fourth in the Uhlsport United Counties Premier Division three points behind joint leaders Rugby Town and Quorn as the lead changed hands once again.

Shepshed got off to a perfect start Reece Morris putting them in front after five minutes but were pegged back on 26 minutes by Corey Armeni’s equaliser and in a game short on chances Michael Reeve’s 69th minute goal was the difference between the two teams.

Morris gave Shepshed the lead on five minutes after being put through by Matt Melbourne, he flashed his shot across Adam Binks who was unable to keep the ball out of the Nomads net.

Shepshed looked to extend their lead with Liam Hurst’s lob going over the crossbar on fourteen minutes and five minutes later his shot was straight at Binks.

With chances few and far between Anstey equalised on 26 minutes,. Dynamo failed to clear their lines at the back and Nick Reeves found Armeni to level the scores.

Armeni had the chance to double his and Nomads scoring on 37 minutes but the assistant referee’s flag was up for offside and for the third consecutive game the score line was level at half time.

Anstey had the first chance of the second half but Armeni was off target on 51 minutes.

Binks then produced two saves firstly from Morris on 56 minutes and a minute later Niall Prenderville’s effort was saved.

Nick Reeves went close for the visitors on 67 minutes and two minutes later they were in front Armeni linking well with Michael Reeve who held off a strong challenge from Shepshed’s defence to slot underneath Matty White to the delight of the former Shepshed striker.

Shepshed’s afternoon nearly went from bad to worse on 72 minutes with Henry Bestwick’s shot rebounding off the post.

Dynamo had one final effort on 86 minutes but it wasn’t to be their day with Morris firing wide.

Shepshed never really got to grips with proceedings on Saturday and although there was very few chances Anstey just edged the tie to take all three points.

On Saturday Shepshed host bottom of the table side Pinchbeck United.
