Walking the Hollywood red carpet
A LOUGHBOROUGH College film-maker has walked the red carpet in Hollywood and been presented with an award in the world’s movie capital.
The invitation to Los Angeles came after ‘Guilty Bunch of Flowers’ was named a winner at the Hollywood International Moving Pictures Film Festival and saw Keith Large attend a glittering ceremony and big screen presentation of his film at the historic Raleigh Studios.
The film, which won best comedy/drama, was shot entirely in Kegworth and was produced and also written by the Loughborough College engineering technician. Co-writer Maria Smith and directors Wayne Kelly and Matt Holt, together with star Eleanor Burke, joined Keith in Hollywood.
Keith’s films, which have now won more than 100 accolades from around the world, include A Date with Shillelagh, which featured students and staff from Loughborough College.
Keith said: “To walk a Hollywood red carpet and receive an award in The Chaplin Theatre and see Guilty Bunch of Flowers on the big screen in The Mary Pickford Theatre at Raleigh Studios, where such movie legends shot their films, felt very, very special.
“It was made extra special by being able to take along people who have played such a big part in the films’ success over the years. Maria encouraged me with my writing and I gave Eleanor her first professional acting job when she left drama school - she attended an event with me at Loughborough College. To think that a decade later we have gone from there to LA, to collect an award in Hollywood for a production we’ve worked on together … it is a dream made up of loyalty and tenacity.”
