LOUGHBOROUGH TOWN LADIES 3RD XI 0 HALF CENTURY LADIES 1ST XI 1

AFTER a series of heavy losses could the Ladies 3rd XI turn their luck around and grab a win, as they faced an in form Half Century.

As Captain Sam Dalby met Captain Sam Cook in the middle it looked like Town might be starting on the front foot, as Half Century were missing a fair few players. However by the time the whistle blew it was 11 V 11.

Town started strong and managed to keep the ball in Half Century’s half for the majority of the first 35 minutes, due to a strong defensive line and very effective leads from the midfield. Despite this, Half Century were able grab a goal about seven minutes in.

Town were unfortunate not to be awarded two short corners in the first half, and spirits were high going into the half time team talk with Town only being by the single goal.

In the second half, Town attempted to stretch play by keeping the forwards very high and using transfers practiced in training. This proved very effective and resulted in many more shots and several short corners, though nothing to show on the score sheet.

In an uncommon turn of events Town’s Ella Patel earned herself a justified green card, when she decided that her foot would be more effective than a stick in blocking a play. Town weathered the two minutes though and continued to push hard. Unfortunately it was not enough to secure an equaliser and the game ended 1-0 to Half Century.

Town will feel hard done by the result as their play deserved at least one point, if not the whole three.

However, several positives can be drawn from the game as they plan to take on Market Harborough away next week.
