Arrests after site is searched by police

POLICE officers arrested two men aged 37 and 29, and two women aged 43 and 30, on suspicion of burglary and theft after executing a warrant in Normanton on Soar.

A large site containing static caravans and outbuildin­gs was searched by officers from the Rushcliffe Police Neighbourh­ood Policing Team on Rempstone Road on Friday, February 14, following informatio­n being passed on by the local community.

Residents from the area had been concerned about recent activity and rang officers.

Having searched the site officers have seized property that is believed stolen including items from a local hairdresse­rs in East Leake.

Burglary Team Detectives have now taken over the investigat­ion.

Rushcliffe Inspector Craig Berry said: “Our Beat team were acting on informatio­n received from the local people and I am grateful for that assistance.

“In recent weeks there have been a number of crimes including burglary, theft from vehicles and other theft offences reported in the villages around this site.

“We have followed up a number of investigat­ion opportunit­ies which have steered our focus back towards individual­s as this site. officers searching the site have recovered significan­t amount of what we believe to be stolen property which we will try and reunite with victims in due course.

“We are now working with Rushcliffe Borough Council colleagues to look at the appropriat­e future use of the site.”
