School team put best feet forward...

A TEAM of 22 colleagues from a school in Quorn are lacing up their trainers as they prepare to take on a half marathon for Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People.

Teachers, premises officers, cooks, learning support assistants and an IT technician from St Bartholomew’s C of E Primary School have signed up to the Loughborough Half Marathon on Sunday, March 29. They aim to raise as much money as possible for Rainbows, which supports more than 450 children and young people with life-limiting illnesses. The school has supported Rainbows for many years and in 2019, they raised £7,600 for the hospice by holding a charity fund-raising week.

Sonya Campbell, assistant headteacher, said: “We are all training hard and excited to be running for Rainbows. We hope that our efforts will contribute to the excellent work of the charity in improving the lives of children and families in the local area. We have a fantastic team made up from every part of the school; some experienced runners and some who have never ran before. But we are all determined to do the best we can on the day and help to raise as much money as we can. We are all proud to be supporting Rainbows.”

St Bart’s Super Team includes Shirley Bood, Heather Wilson, Amanda Moxon, Megan Hunter, Dan Evans-Bolger, Marie Inder, Emma Woods, Lucy Marriott, Kelly Fudge, Sarah Oakland, Glenn James, Rebecca Moody, Trish Osborne, Laura Gray, Izzy Vedrine, Michael Applewhite, Amy Minty, Sam Matthews, Rebecca Nicholls, Emma Davinson, Lesley Smith and Sonya Campbell.
