Easter appeal by bank to give treats to children

THE NatWest Bank in Loughborough, a key helper in the Charnwood Christmas Toy Appeal, has launched a new Easter Egg initiative along with appeal’s wellknown co-ordinator Ruth Townsend.

The new appeal aims to give an Easter treat to children might not be so lucky as others in the area.

The Charnwood Christmas Toy Appeal gifts are given to underprivileged children in the Charnwood area and are referred to the appeal’s organisers by services such as Social Services, Women’s Aid, Tenancy Support. The gifts are for children are aged between 0-16 years.

And it will be the same for the Easter Egg egg appeal.

And, also in the same manner as the festive initiative, people are being asked if they can donate Easter Eggs and drop them off at the bank in town.

Ruth Townsend told the Echo: “This is a new initiative which has come directly from the bank and hopefully, if we are successful with the help of the general public donating Easter Eggs, it could become a yearly exercise.

“Like our Christmas appeal again, these children would go without.

“We would need to get the eggs out to the services earlier, rather than later, as this give the social workers enough time to hand them out to the children under their care.”

The drop off point will be in the main lobby at the NatWest Bank, Market Place Loughborough.

The deadline is Monday, March 30, ready for the appeal members and the bank to hand them over on Tuesday, March 31.
