Stannard looking to continue unbeaten run in the ring

-

LOUGHBOROUGH College student Stanley Stannard will be looking to make it win number three as a professional boxer over fellow undefeated prospect Wrexham’s Martin Jones this weekend.

Stannard’s contest with Jones takes place this Saturday night (March 7) as part of the Carl Greaves Promotions ‘Top Prospects’ at Nottingham’s Britannia Hotel.

Super-welterweight Stannard will be looking to put on a show for his fans on what promises to be an exciting night’s boxing.

He said: “It’s the just the fight I need. I’m looking to extend my winning record as a pro, and I’ve got to take the step up.

“He will be looking for the victory too and that suits me. It’s been a great camp and I’m feeling confident with all the hard work I’ve put in.”

Manager and trainer Carl Greaves added: “I’ve already said that Stanley can go a long way in the sport.

“He’s worked really hard throughout the camp and pushed himself to the limit when we went to Fuerta Ventura with some of my other fighters.

“It will be a different sort of test for him this time, but I have every confidence that he will do well on Saturday night. Sometimes he works too hard in the gym, but it’s my job to make sure he’s ready when the first bell rings.”

Stannard also thanked his sponsors and supporters, “I’d like to thank Davies Salvage, GMIX Concrete, S&D Solutions and Excel Therapy.

“They are helping me follow my dream and anybody who has bought a ticket for Saturday. I can’t thank them enough for their support.”
