LARKINS

Nottingham

HOTLY-TIPPED indie band Larkins headline the Rescue Rooms in Nottingham on Thursday, April 16. We get the low-down from the band

How would you describe your sound? Massive pads, electro drums, Loud bass, heavy crunchy guitars.

What inspires your music?

Literally everything that affects us as human beings will have some effect on the music. I think that often you don’t realise something is inspiring you until way down the line when you stop for a minute. I think the common inspirations are other artists. Whenever we see an amazing band play live or whenever we listen to a new album it gives us a massive push.

Can you give us some background about your next release?

It’s going to blow. up. It was recorded on our last trip to LA and it’s honestly massive.

What do you like most about touring?

The adrenaline of playing to people every night is incredibly addictive. It’s what gets you up in the morning and you get locked into this touring bubble which is just a mad state of mind to be in. It’s really bizarre but an unbelievable experience.

What can people expect from your upcoming Nottingham gig?

An arena show in a 500-cap venue.

What are you enjoying listening to at the moment?

All sorts! Bon Iver is always a constant for us but there are some amazing younger artists on the up. King Princess is very cool. The new Strokes tracks are exciting.

What’s been your best appearance as a performer?

Playing Reading and Leeds last year was kind of a bucket list moment. It’s a festival that we all went to as kids and seemed such a far reach away so it was mad to be on that stage.
