Skittles and photography

-

MEMBERS and guests of Sileby

Photographic Society held their annual skittles match at a local hostelry on Monday, 9th March, a popular event in the calendar, allowing everyone to enjoy a fun evening away from photography.

Each took their turn in the skittle alley to prove or otherwise their throwing skills but, as has now become the norm, and despite careful concentration when taking aim, it seemed that knocking no pins down at all was quite a common occurrence and very easy to do! A tasty and traditional ‘pub grub’ supper comprising faggots, sausages, black pudding, mushy peas, beans and chips, including a vegetarian option, was served during the interval after which play resumed to complete the rounds.

Despite all teams being almost as good, or even as bad, as each other, Team A led by Pete Smith, just managed to triumph over Teams B and C, clinching the highest overall score of pins knocked down resulting in its participants sharing the contents of a chocolate box as their reward.

John Hoogerwerf took top individual honours over three rounds and, for his splendid efforts, his wife looked delighted when he was handed a bottle of wine in recognition! As usual, this had been a very enjoyable evening and lots of fun.

The next meeting will be held on Monday, 23rd March when the society’s internal panel competition will take place. This competition is open to prints and digital images in panels or sets of three or four images and should be combined to form one image for projection, with the subject matter being that of the author’s choice.

The visiting judge on this occasion will be Peter Yeo, FRPS, DPAGB, APAGB.

Visitors and prospective new members are always welcome to attend the meetings which commence at 7.45pm for 8pm and are held at Sileby Community Centre.
