BOOTS MEN’S 1ST XI 0 LOUGHBOROUGH TOWN MEN’S 1ST XI 3 LOUGHBOROUGH Town 1st XI bounced back from a disappointing defeat last week, with a comfortable 3-0 win over Boots 1st XI.

With one member of the Town squad in self isolation and three others unable to make the long trip to Nottingham the team knew they would have to dig deep if they were to get a result. Town’s captain Nick Morris responded in the only way he knows how, with a rousing recap of the press.

Town enjoyed much of the early possession, creating but not converting a number of chances. They finally went 1-0 up when Johnston scored from the penalty spot after Harrison and Hoddle combined in the ‘D’, with the latter being brought down by the goalie.

Johnston quickly got his and Town’s second goal from a penalty corner. The third was slotted home by Harrison on the rebound just before the break, as he finally got a goal of his own after being involved in the first two goals.

The rest of the game carried on in much the same way with Town creating plenty of opportunities but not able to add to their tally. Debutant Lawrie Bayne impressed at half back, just missing out on Man of the Match. Instead this went to Adam Carter who made a nuisance of himself all afternoon but couldn’t quite register a goal of his own, even from three yards out. The win keeps Town in third place and with two games left a win at home to bottom side Bournville 1st XI next week, will guarantee Town a third place finish in the league.
