Streaming painting idea as club meets hit by virus

-

CHARNWOOD Drawing and Painting Club have apologised to anyone who turned up at two events advertised in the press last week, which were affected by the closure of venues due to coronavirus.

Thursday evening’s art demonstration at Woodbrook Vale School, Loughborough, and an art exhibition in Loughborough Museum Café were both cancelled.

CDPC’s spokesperson, Paul Lockton told the Echo: “Our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience caused to anyone who found the venues barred.

“The closure notice came through too late to notify the Echo, who published last Wednesday. In recompense, two free tickets admission will be offered for those people to use at future CDPC’s future events, whenever these resume.”

Meanwhile he said that the club were mindful of the coronavirus situation and to Government advice on public meetings, but added they wish to keep our regular painting sessions going in novel ways like streaming, and as long as there is demand for painting activities and it is possible to hold them.

So members and visitors are asked to observe the following:

• Gorse Covert (Monday night) venue closed and activities moved temporarily to Bishops Beverage, Barrow-upon-Soar, 7pm-9pm as from Monday, April 6

• Bishops Beverage (Monday am) suspended by members until

further notice.

• Woodhouse Eves (Tuesday am) to continue pending parish

council decision and in event of closure activities move to Barrow.

• Walk & Draw (Tuesday am)

continues with lots of new dates to be announced from end of March.

Paul Lockton also stated with optimism: “Other ideas are being actively considered that could enhance artists experience which I am excited about and hoping to announce in the near future:

“Further Walk & Draw/Sit &

Paint from spring onwards including a Loughborough group

“Streaming of artists demonstrations via YouTube if the virus

continues to affect

“Availability of tutorial downloads from the Society of Artists (SAA) for use by our club.”

If anyone has any comments or other suggestions to offer to Paul in regard to these ideas they are most welcome, so please email them to the club at: pnp.lockton@ gmail.com
