Free counselling from Fearon Hall

- DAviD GoDSAll david.godsall@reachplc.com

FEARON Hall in Loughborough is offering a free confidential counselling and listening service for people who have used Fearon Hall in the past or those who live in the Lemyngton or Hastings wards.

This service is offered free in light of the current situation regarding Covid-19 and is being funded by the Rotary Club.

A spokesperson said: “Life was difficult enough and now many people are trying to ‘keep calm and carry on’ in the face of the current crisis. We want to continue to show our loved ones and friends a sense of normality, we keep assuring others and ourselves everything is okay and that we are okay.

“Well it is okay not to be okay! And it’s important that we express to someone how we are feeling and whilst we may want to protect our children, families, colleagues and friends and offer them reassurance, we need to consider our own wellbeing and undertake some self-care.

“You will be put into contact with a therapist with whom you talk via the telephone or using an internet platform such as Zoom or Skype.

“For confidentiality there will be no record (recorded or written) of the call and your details will be deleted from their phone or computer immediately afterwards.

“In line with the ethics of counselling if either party feels that the content or process is inappropriate then that party can end the call immediately, in the case of the therapist he will tell you if and/or why it may be inappropriate and wherever possible will try to signpost you to an appropriate agency/help.

“There are rules around disclosure and confidentiality and these will be quickly briefed at the start of the call.”

To access this service you must first contact Dawn via email activities@fearonhall. org.uk or telephone 07710 721481. Dawn will take some contact details and pass these onto a counsellor.

There is no minimum call time but the maximum is 50 minutes.

Fearon Hall will pass on (with your permission) your contact details and if given, the day and time you would like to talk. If the time and date need to be arranged or changed you will be contacted to facilitate this. Once set up you will receive either a telephone call or an invitation to join an on-line platform such as Skype or Zoom at the agreed time.

Access to this service is available seven days per week between 8am and 9pm.

If you live in this community or use Fearon Hall and want to book a free counselling and listening conversation, please call 07710 721 481 or email activities@fearonhall.org.uk
