Barefoot Festival to be held - virtually!

-

FANS of the now-cancelled Barefoot Festival in Loughborough need not despair - as a virtual festival is to be held in its place this year.

A message on its Facebook page said: “Due to the cancellation of this year’s Barefoot Festival, we’d like to bring some juiciness into your living room, a little Barefoot magic in your back garden, some sparkle in your kitchen and love in your hearts!

“So may we present the first online, world wide virtual Barefoot Festival!

“This will be a free event with the opportunity to place a suggested donations to the individual artists, workshop providers, musicians and performers. We know times are tough for everyone but artists and performers are getting very little financial support and this is a wonderful opportunity to recognise the value of the arts and artists, especially in these challenging times.

“Please invite your friends along to this event, the more the merrier, because this is going to be epic - we’ve got circus skills, yoga, burlesque, belly dancing, capoeira, festival cookery, Forest School fun for the children, shamanic journeying, raw chocolate making, crafts and creative activities, live music and DJ sets with shout outs and more!

“We’re encouraging you to get your tents up in your garden or build a den in your lounge, get the bevvies in (festival style wine in a box anyone) or masala chai at the ready!

“We want to see your best festival outfits, glitter, wigs and leotards!”

The free online festival is due to take place from May 22-24 and people will require a Virtual Ticket - see the Barefoot Festival Facebook page for more details.

If you are a teacher, performer or feel you have something to offer the program and would like to get involved, you are invited to get in touch.
