Pulled wheelie in front of police

-

A MOTORCYCLIST was left red-faced when he pulled a wheelie at a set of traffic lights- in front of a police car.

Officers pulled the acrobatic biker over just after a set of lights at about 2.50pm on the A6 at Hathern, near Loughborough, on Tuesday, May 26.

The officers from the Leicestershire Road Policing Unit (RPU) pointed out the error of his ways to the motorcyclist. The team took to Twitter to record the encounter.

The tweet said: “Unfortunately we are continuing to receive complaints about the inappropriate use of motorcycles.

“More unfortunately for the motorcylist who failed to see our marked Drone Team car as he had a little wheelie away the lights in Hathern.”

A Leicestershire Police spokesman said: “At around 2.50pm officers in a marked police car saw a man riding a motorcycle in a manner which caused concern on the A6 Derby Road in Hathern.

“The motorcyclist was stopped and spoken to by officers at the roadside.”

On the day before, the same team also pulled over a driver who overtook an unmarked police car at set of traffic lights and went through on red.

The team tweeted: “It’s never a good idea to overtake a vehicle that stops at a red traffic light so you can drive straight through it.

“It’s an even worse idea where there’s an unmarked traffic car following you! Driver’s response when stopped is: ‘I didn’t see the red light.’ Driver reported.”

He was reported for failing to stop for a red light.
