DAVID Sandall has been appointed Assistant Chief Constable of Leicestershire Police.
Mr Sandall has served with the force throughout his policing career.
He is following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather before him and between them, they have more than 80 years of continuous service to the public of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
Mr Sandall joined the force in 1999. He began his career working at the old Asfordby Street and Charles Street Police stations undertaking a variety of uniform, proactive and CID roles. He has worked across the county, Rutland and Leicester city areas, mainly within detective and investigative roles at all ranks, leading on serious and organised crime and safeguarding.
In 2015, he was promoted to Chief Superintendent as the Head of Crime and Intelligence. He is an accredited senior investigating officer, a senior identification manager and is also an active strategic and experienced tactical firearms commander.
Outside of work, he enjoys sport, being outside with his active children and he volunteers, running a local children’s football team and supporting local and national Scouting.
“I feel very proud and also humbled to be given the opportunity to become the Assistant Chief Constable of Leicestershire Police,” said Mr
Sandall.
“The force is a great place to work and I am extremely grateful to those people who have helped, guided and advised me during my time with the force.
“I’m looking forward to continuing to work alongside other agencies and the voluntary sector to help prevent crime, protect vulnerable people and then making sure that we continue to catch those criminals causing harm and bringing them to justice.”
Chief Constable Simon Cole said: “David has a track record of dealing with crime and criminals, of leading our response to serious incidents, of partnership working, of innovation and he has excelled on the very challenging national strategic command course.
“He is well known to partners across the force area, and is passionate about policing with local communities. It is good news for the public, the force and the region that he will be our new ACC.”
Leicestershire’s Police and Crime Commissioner, Lord Willy Bach, added: “I’m delighted by David’s appointment.
“It’s good news for Leicestershire Police and the residents of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. He will be a valuable member of the chief officer team and I’m looking forward to working with him in the coming months.”
