Homes firm donates £1,000 to hospitals

-

IN SUPPORT of an emergency appeal to help NHS staff fighting Covid-19 on the frontline, Barratt Homes North Midlands has donated £1,000 to the Leicester Hospitals Charity.

The contribution is part of the leading developer’s Community Fund scheme and will help fund additional equipment and facilities for doctors and nurses.

In connection with University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, the charity helps to bring vital care to patients at Leicester Royal Infirmary, Leicester General Hospital and Glenfield Hospital.

Gareth Aston, head of fund-raising at Leicester Hospitals Charity, said: “This has been such a critical time for all three of our hospitals and we are delighted to have received such a kind donation from Barratt Homes North Midlands.

“The staff on the front lines fighting against the effects of this pandemic need all the support we can give them and with his donation we can help give all our staff and patients a boost that I know will be massively appreciated.”

Donations to the charity’s Covid-19 Response Fund will help provide a dedicated staff rest area at each hospital with comfortable seating, adjustable lighting and facilities for free hot drinks, so NHS employees can recharge and refresh, or enjoy time to sleep after a long shift.

Contributions will also go towards emergency toiletry packs, hand and body creams for those wearing PPE for long periods of time, nutritious snacks and cold drinks, plus single-use craft items for Play Specialist Teams to use on children’s wards to reduce the risk of spreading infection.

Chris Southgate, managing director at Barratt Homes North Midlands, said: “Showing support and appreciation to those associated with the NHS is essential at a time like this, and it’s a privilege to be able to contribute to Leicester Hospitals Charity’s appeal through our Community Fund scheme.

“We’d like to thank the key workers on the frontline for their admirable work in providing first-class care for patients across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.”

With Barratt Homes’ Community Fund scheme, the housebuilder donates up to £1,000 a month to charities and organisations in the local area.

Through donations and fundraising, Leicester Hospitals Charity provides additional resources, assets and skills which link closely with the strategic aims of both the Trust, and NHS healthcare in the East Midlands.
