Laura hoping for bestseller with lockdown book
Collaboration with 21 female authors
A SILEBY fitness instructor is hoping she has her fourth bestseller under her belt after contributing to a special collaboration with 21 other female authors.
Laura Bland has been involved in other book successes but this was the first time she had been involved in writing fiction for ‘Escape Reality’ - inspired by the current situation of being in lockdown.
She said: “I have always absolutely loved books and reading and as a child I dreamt of being an author, although I’ve been published before, this feels completely different and I am so excited to have been involved in the project.”
“Our main hope is to bring some escape from the current situation through writing. When Jen announced the project I jumped at taking part.”
The book was bought about by Jen Parker, a graduate of De Lisle, who owns and manages Fuzzy Flamingo a design and editorial company.
She said: “I’ve always found reading books to be the best form of escapism. I wanted to offer readers the same with this anthology – so put a call out for contributions just over a month ago.
“Now 22 women, ranging from the age of 11 to the retired, have written short stories of a range of genres for this anthology. They have been wonderful to work with.
“Experienced readers and book lovers will find distraction, escapism and, above all, hope within these pages.”
