Timber Festival postponed until next year, date set

-

WITH great regret the National Forest Company and Wild Rumpus have made the difficult decision to postpone Timber Festival until next year.

This is due to the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the coronavirus outbreak. Timber will now take place from July 2-4, 2021.

The decision to postpone this year’s festival has not been taken lightly. Over the past few weeks preparations have continued in the hope that social distancing measures will have been lifted by July. However, as the coronavirus pandemic and social distancing continue, it was felt that postponing is the right thing to do.

Festival organisers said: “We are incredibly disappointed not to welcome festival goers to the National Forest this year, but their safety and that of everybody who is part of Timber will always be our priority. We must protect the health of our wonderful audience, staff, volunteers, artists, performers, vendors, contractors, and partners - everybody who makes Timber the inspirational community that it is.

“We know that you will join us in thanking everyone who is keeping the country going, including our incredible NHS, carers, other key workers and the thousands of volunteers who have signed up to help their communities.”

All Timber 2020 tickets will be rolled over to the new 2021 dates. Festival tickets (and any other add-ons like glamping or bike rides) will be automatically transferred and ticket holders do not need to do anything; alternatively, people are eligible for a full refund. Organisers hope that ticket holders will be able to support Timber Festival, the National Forest and Wild Rumpus by carrying forward the tickets to next year. They will be working with this year’s programmed artists, musicians and speakers to secure the attendance of as many as possible in 2021.

Timber was created to bring the unique story of the National Forest to a wider audience, and for all who take part in whatever way, to experience something of the transformational power of trees and forests. In a post-Covid world it will be more important than ever to reflect on our relationship with nature, and in the coming months Timber will continue to work with artists, performers, writers, poets and thinkers to find ways to rethink our relationship with forests and trees in the new world we are entering.
