Andy fulfils a life-time ambition

-

HATHERN’S Andy Fairweather has been keeping himself very busy since his retirement in 2017 and has fulfilled a lifelong ambition three times over!

Andy, who was born and brought up in Kegworth, had always wanted to write a novel and upon retiring from his own business running a successful shipping and freight forwarding company, and with time on his hands during the autumn/winter months he decided to give it a go and ended up writing a trilogy.

The inspiration came from memories of watching loveable rogues like William Tell, Ivanhoe and Robin Hood on television and hence the novels are centred in 18th century Cornwall – well known for its many tales of smuggling and swashbuckling pirates!

Also, Andy and his wife Sue have spent many wonderful holidays in Cornwall and Andy knows the area well.

Andy uses a pseudonym, Albert Zaylor – which came about due to a long standing private joke with his son.

He has thoroughly enjoyed writing the novels about smuggling and life in Cornwall and has received good feedback from those who have so far read the books.

Whilst the books form a trilogy, the ending on the third and final book has been left open, in case a fourth book is added in the future.

The books, whose front cover artwork has been created by graphic designer Joan Davies of Quorn, may be purchased via any of the online book retailers, the likes of Amazon and Lulu, or alternatively from the Old Curiosity bookshop in Hathern.
