TWO men were reportedly stabbed in a property in Shepshed - but when officers arrived at the scene both of them had left.

Officers from Leicestershire Police were called to report of a disturbance at a property in Temple Close, Shepshed, shortly after midnight on June 24.

The force attended the address, where an occupant of the property reported that two men had been stabbed there.

However, both men had left the scene before officers arrived.

One of the men was located a short while later, when the vehicle he was driving allegedly failed to stop for police officers on a routine patrol nearby.

There was a short pursuit between police and the vehicle, and it was eventually stopped in Manor Road.

The driver, 28, was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop his vehicle for police.

He was also arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

He was taken to the hospital for treatment and was discharged. He remains in police custody.

An eyewitness reported seeing a large police presence in Temple Close including forensics officers, police officers and PCSOs patrolling the area.

A spokeswoman for the force said the second man has not yet been located.

DESPITE the lockdown period because of the Covid-19 virus the members of Shepshed and District Camera Club have continued to meet online using the Zoom app most Tuesday evenings.

With a slightly amended programme to that arranged at the beginning of the season last September the club has enjoyed listening to, and viewing the pictures of, Chris Upton from Nottinghamshire who gave a talk called “Finding the Beauty in Nature”, and Martin Patton, a much decorated photographer from Watford, who gave a talk called “Improving your Photography” which was ideal for all the members from those just starting out with the hobby to those with many years of experience behind them.

Three members of the Club, Mike Gillingham, Alan Harris and Sue Hutton also gave talks on separate evenings, Sue’s concerning Flower Photography, Mike took the members on a photo tour of parts of Canada and the USA and Mike gave two talks, the first a picture walk along part of the old Forest Railway Line and the other a photographic overview of the Dunkirk evacuation in 1940.

The annual three-way competition between the Shepshed, Coalville and Ashby clubs still took place with 44 people online to enjoy the occasion.

The judge was Nat Coulson, also from the Nottingham area. Nat had the digital images from each club in advance of the meeting and awarded points as follows to each club, Ashby and Coalville 217 points each and Shepshed 216 points.

Other evenings have been filled with club members presenting their own photos taken during the lockdown and the results of their efforts taking up several photo challenges.

Meetings will continue throughout July and August and are open, free of charge, to any photo enthusiasts who would like to join the members on Zoom.
