Baroness hoping that people in area will contribute to Covid-19 project

-

FORMER MP for Loughborough, Baroness Nicky Morgan has taken up a role as a member of the Hose of Lords’ Covid-19 committee.

And she is hoping the people of Loughborough can help with its work.

The new committee’s remit is to consider the impact of the pandemic for society and the economy in the long-term.

And its first piece of work is to collect views on what will be, or should be, different for people’s home and working lives, and for UK society, several years from now.

Baroness Morgan is hoping that people from the Loughborough area will contribute their thoughts.

She told the Echo: “The House of Lords ‘Life beyond Covid’ committee is looking at the long term impacts of the virus on our overall wellbeing.

“Although the virus has been very challenging it may provide a chance to see if there are things we’d like to change about the way we live our lives.

“I know that plenty of folk in the Loughborough area will have thoughts on this and I hope they send them in.

“The broader the contributors are the better.

“Submissions don’t have to be long essays and can be videos, audio clips or taking part in conversations with committee members.”

The committee will bring together current thinking from academia, business and civic society with views from the public about how life will be different 2-5 years from now.

The committee says it is are particularly keen to hear from people whose voices are not often heard in Parliament and want people to be able to contribute in ways that feel most comfortable to them.

This could include sharing video, photos and audio clips via social media, taking part in video chats with committee members or feeding in their views via community groups that the committee is partnering with.
