- By Adrian Troughton

A BUS driver was racially abused by a passenger who then kicked him later in the same day.

Any passengers who witnessed either attack are now being asked to come forward by police.

The driver was racially abused by the passenger as he drove between Loughborough and Leicester on Saturday, June 18.

The abuse happened on the journey between 10.30am and 11am.

Hours later, between 2.35pm and 3pm, the male passenger saw the driver in the public toilets at St Margaret’s Bus Station in Leicester.

The passenger kicked the driver then walked off.

A Leicestershire Police spokesman said: “Bus passengers are being asked to contact police with any information they have after a driver was racially abused.

“It happened on a bus travelling between Loughborough and Leicester, between 10.30am and 11am on Saturday 18 June.

“In the afternoon – between 2.35pm and 3pm – the driver came into contact with the same man again, St Margaret’s bus station.

“The man kicked the driver in the leg while they were both in the toilets before walking off.”

PC Tom Page-Brown, who is the investigating officer, appealed for passengers on the bus to come forward.

“There were passengers on the bus who will have seen what happened – and I would like to speak to those people,” he said.

“Please cast your mind back. Were you travelling on that service between Loughborough and Leicester. Did you see what happened? Did you hear what was said?

“Any information you have could help with my investigation.”

The police can be contacted on 101.
