Loughborough Dynamo add fifth new face to squad
LOUGHBOROUGH Dynamo have strengthened their squad again with the signing of full-back Merlin Ferrinho from Loughborough University FC
The 20-year-old, who was a former youth team player at Chesterfield, played 24 times for the Scholars in the United Counties League last term, scoring two goals.
Ferrinho becomes Dynamo’s fifth new signing after Evan Garnett, Dom Allen, Tristan Matthews and Dean Freeman all joined The Moes this summer.
Manager Lee Attenborough said he was pleased to add Ferrinho to his sqaud.
“He is a player I’ve kept an eye on since the start of last season. Merlin has played for a couple of pro clubs and didn’t quite get the break as a young lad and now he’s dusted himself down and is working his way back up the pyramid.”
The side has also put together a seven-match pre-season schedule which will all be played behind closed doors.
The first match was away at Quorn on Saturday.
Manager Lee Attenborough handed first starts to Dean Freeman, Merlin Ferrinho, Evan Garnett and Matthews, while fellow new signing Dom Allen was named on the bench.
The match started slowly and it was Quorn who had the first real chance when Stephen Hart’s effort flew over the crossbar, but Dynamo soaked up the pressuure and eased to a 2-0 win with second half goals from Luke Foster and Tristan Matthews.
Other Dynamo friendly matches to date are home to Eastwood on August 8, away at Buxton on August 11, home against Nuneaton Borough on August 22, away at Loughborough Uni FC on August 15, away at Stapenhill on August 29 and at home against Coleshill Town on September 5.
