Firefighte­rs cut woman from car after three vehicle crash on A512 Ashby Road

A WOMAN was taken to hospital after being cut free the wreckage of a car following a three-vehicle crash in Shepshed.

Firefighte­rs using cutting equipment freed the woman after the crash some time before 5.45pm on August 3 on the A512 Ashby Road Central in Shepshed.

The casualty was taken to Leicester Royal Infirmary by East Midlands Ambulance Service.

Her injuries were not believed to life-threatenin­g or life-changing.

The road was closed in both directions until after 9.45pm while the emergency services dealt with the incident.

A fuel spill on the carriagewa­y was cleaned up by the highways department.

A Leicesters­hire Fire and Rescue spokeswoma­n said: “We were called at 5.52pm by the ambulance service.

“One person was trapped. Firefighte­rs used hydraulic cutting equipment to release the person.

“The casualty was left in the hands of EMAS.” Fire crews from Shepshed and Coalville attended the incident.

A Leicesters­hire Police spokesman said: “At about 5.45pm officers were called to a report of a three-car collision in Ashby Road Central, Shepshed.

“Police attended, along with colleagues from the East Midlands Ambulance Service.

“Leicesters­hire Fire and Rescue Service also attended as it was reported one person was trapped.

“One woman was taken to the Leicester Royal Infirmary to be treated for injuries that were not life-threatenin­g or life-changing.

“Highways were also notified due to a fuel spillage on the carriagewa­y.”
