Camera club keeping busy during lockdown
THE members of Shepshed and District Camera Club are still continuing to take advantage of the various Covid-19 restrictions to meet together via Zoom during the usual summer close-down period and indeed have managed to attract several new people to join them online on Tuesday evenings.
Early on in July the club was entertained by Tony North, a teacher from Manchester who is very adept at Macro photography and spends a lot of his time running workshops and presentations. He showed an excellent selection of his photographs with a full description of the equipment and techniques he used to take the images.
One of the guests to the club, Joy Noble-Rollin, gave a very entertaining illustrated talk of her two visits over recent years to Jordan and four Club members, Fred Ing, Kevin Moore, Jason Ametrine and Brian Walbey gave short talks about their introduction to photography as a hobby and showed examples of their work.
Most recently the postponed third round of the annual club competition league took place in early August with Colin Machin judging the Close Up/Still Life class and Mandy Sheringham judging the Open class, all the entries being digital images this time. The results of each class were as follows:
Close Up/Still Life: 1st. Angels Edwards (Blown Away); 2: 2nd. Alan Harris; 3rd: Phil Tapp. Open:
1st. Alan Harris (The Manager); 2nd: Sue Hutton; 3rd: Garry Rennocks
We are continuing to meet regularly on Zoom on Tuesday evenings for the foreseeable future with a varied programme of talks, competitions and image sharing, and non-competitive photographic challenges. Please contact us on 07733 314605 if you are interested. There is no charge for initial meetings, so come along and try us out before committing to join us.
