THE renowned watercolourist John M Pooler provides a keynote demonstration for Charnwood Drawing and Painting Club in their first post-COVID live event of 2020 which will also be streamed live from their brand-new community venue.

The pioneering event will be staged on Wednesday evening on September 23 before a socially-distanced audience of 30 at the Arc Community Hub on 22 Knox Road, Loughborough LE11 2UP near the new Aldi.

The demonstration will also be screened simultaneously via Zoom to a much larger audience watching from home.

“This is a land mark event for our club which has defied all odds to survive what COVID has thrown at us”, Club Chair Paul Lockton told the Echo.

During the event club members and invited guests will see the artist recreate two vintage watercolour paintings of harbour scenes that hark back to staycations of the past in Cornwall and Norfolk.

Paul added: “The evening promises to be a fantastic opportunity for us all to acquire some great tips from an art maestro.

“John is no stranger to Charnwood having visited the club on several occasions in the past. But it will be the first time that John will see us in our new club venue at the Arc. “We’re delighted to welcome him. John Pooler is an accomplished artist who was born in 1969 and lives in Nottingham. He acquired his artistic abilities alongside other contemporary artists of a similar kind like Avish Khebrehzadeh, Damien Meade, Kazumi Matsuzaki, and Adriana Czernin.

As an artist, John was influenced by the generation of artists that grew up in the 1980s and who took inspiration from, and was influenced by, the growth of capitalism, political unrest, global mass media and some ground breaking new music like electronic pop and hip hop. Now established with his own style John exhibits nationally and internationally.

Charnwood Drawing and Painting Club will hold the event from 7 to 9pm at the Arc in the COVID Secure Sports Hall.

Being the first art show of its kind since COVID, the event is expected to be popular whilst strictly observing social distancing.

With a Government imposed meeting limit of 30, the club will also offer an unlimited number of tickets on Zoom.

All tickets are priced at £6 (reduced to £4 for members) and will be exclusively sold on Event Brite by logging onto: www.charnwooddrawingpaintingclub.com.

Those seeking places at this event are urged NOT to turn up expecting to pay on the night.

Art demonstrations are held on the fourth Wednesday of the month.

Free parking is offered at the Arc but visitors are asked to bring their own refreshment as drinks cannot be served.
