Cat last seen getting into mail van

Mo’s owner appeals for help to find friendly family pet

- By CHRIS JONES

THE owners of a cat who went missing after jumping into a Parcelforce van three days ago are appealing for help.

Hannah Perry said her cat, named Mo, was caught on CCTV jumping into the back of a mail van at around 8.45am on Monday in Yoeman Way, Rothley.

Since then she has been unable to locate him but believes the fiveyear-old cat may still be in the area.

She has appealed for people to look out for Mo, who is grey and extremely friendly.

Hannah said: “Mo is a house cat at heart. If he goes out, he tends to do loops around our house, sometimes nips into next door to say hello to them.

“He does, however, if on the front, decide to hop into our car or van, and I have driven up the road once with him in there.

“We didn’t notice he was missing until Monday night.

“Monday was my son’s first day at school and I was busy juggling the day around him.

“Mo tends to keep himself to himself in the day so I didn’t notice he wasn’t around.

“He always comes to sit with us in the evening, but he didn’t. We searched the house, and I walked the estate we live in, no Mo.

“I messaged all friends and family and posted on Facebook etc.

“Our next-door neighbour said that he saw Mo in the morning on the Monday, and he’d seen the Parcelforce van too, that the van was outside our house with the doors wide open, and he bet that Mo had jumped in there.

“We checked our CCTV and, clear as day, Mo is there, and he jumps straight in.”

Hannah said that she phoned

Parcelforce who confirmed the next two stops were Woodgate in the centre of Rothley.

She said that they would speak to the driver to check if he recalled seeing or hearing Mo.

Updated appeals have been shared across Facebook pages and posters have been put up in the centre of Rothley too.

“I’m so tired, I’ve not been sleeping very well,” said Hannah .

“I’m almost hoping I hear him at the door, it’s very emotional. I find it hard to talk about him without bursting into tears – my two boys have noticed he’s missing now, which I find really hard.

“It’s like a part of our home is missing. Feels very strange.”

Mo is not wearing a collar and, because he is not used to venturing too far, could be hiding in someone’s house, garden or garage.

Hannah described him as “daft” and added that he liked to lie on his back and rarely meowed unless he was hungry or in distress.
