Loughborough Dynamo hit for six by Worksop

-

NORTHERN PREMIER LEAGUE DIVISION ONE SOUTH EAST WORKSOP TOWN 6 LOUGHBOROUGH DYNAMO 2 IT was a forgettable start to the league campaign for Loughborough Dynamo as they fell to a 6-2 defeat away to an imperious Worksop Town.

The home side started the brighter of the two and tested replacement goalkeeper Tom Oliver early as Michael

Dunn’s venomous shot forced Loughborough ‘keeper down to right to stop it.

The Tigers dominated the opening 10 minutes and were rewarded for their pressure as talisman Vaughan Redford tapped home from close range after a goalmouth scramble.

Dynamo just could not get hold of the ball in midfield and Worksop’s high press limited the visitors to long, aimless balls up to the forwards who could not shake the Worksop defenders.

Despite this, a golden opportunity was presented to Evan Garnett, who would have been buoyed by his man of the match performance against Lutterworth Town, however when given the ball through on goal by Alex Steadman, the forward could not beat the on-rushing Seb Malkowski.

Dynamo were instantly made to rue that missed chance as Redford grabbed his second of the game less than halfanthe his into the match who smashed the ball into the net from close range once again.

It was a tough ask for the Moes to pick themselves up after receiving what felt like a double blow and it only got worse for the visitors as another scramble from a corner-kick handed the home side their third goal, Luke Hinsley the scorer, as he bundled the ball into the net.

Merely seconds before the half-time whistle, an own goal and a fourth for Worksop compiled Dynamo’s misery and wrap up a forgettable half of football for Lee Attenborough’s side.

Being four goals down at half-time gave Loughborough the license to play without fear and play more expansively in the attack, which led to Dynamo clawing themselves back into the game for a period in the second half.

Firstly, Alex Steadman latched onto a Rob Norris freekick and guided his header into the bottom right corner of Malkowski’s net to open his side’s account for the afternoon.

Some lacklustre defending from the hosts, who had perhaps let some complacency leak into their game, gave midfielder Jack Smith plenty of time to smash home a second for Dynamo after Worksop failed to clear Danny Gordon’s cross.

For just five minutes from that point, Attenborough and his side were hopeful or a second-half miracle, but it was some magical footwork from Redford, who sliced through the Loughborough backline, that won a penalty for Worksop which the striker converted.

To wrap up a dismal afternoon for the Moes, goalkeeper Oliver was slow to a loose ball in the box which resulted in Redford being brought down again for another penalty which he smashed into the top right for his fourth and Worksop’s sixth.

UHLSPORT UNITED COUNTIES LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION SHEPSHED DYNAMO 2

RUGBY TOWN 0 SHEPSHED Dynamo maintained their 100% Uhlsport United Counties League Premier Division record with their third consecutive victory of the season at The Dovecote Stadium on Tuesday evening.

Shepshed had a glorious to start the game perfectly on three minutes Matt Melbourne putting Harper through on the right his cross found Karob Motshweni free on the left but he was unable to keep his shot down as it flew over the Rugby crossbar.

After this Rugby came more into the game looking dangerous and fast on the break.

With chances a plenty in the first half for both sides it was surprising the teams went in at the break level with neither side able to convert efforts.

Shepshed started the second half on the attack and on 48 minutes took the lead through Jahdahn Harper.

Dynamo’s pressure to stop Town from getting back into the game paid off on 55 minutes Morris reacting to a loose ball in the area to beat Lomax to double Shepshed’s lead.

Rugby never gave up and started to assert their own pressure but despite this Shepshed always looked like adding further on the break.

As the game went into the last 20 minutes Rugby sensed they weren’t out of the game and went in search of a goal which would give them incentive to push for an equaliser. Jordan Wakeling blocked Lee Thomas effort on 71 minutes and three minutes later Charlie Evans fired wide.

There was one final chance each as the game turned ill tempered towards the end with a splattering of bookings for both sides and a sin bin for Thomas for Rugby.

Jamal Clarke was off target on 85 minutes and King’s effort was saved by Lomax on 88 minutes. To the joy of the majority of the 207 in attendance the referee blew his whistle as Shepshed sealed all three points.

In what could turn out to be three vital points come the end of the season Shepshed put in an all round committed performance and despite pressure from Rugby Town deserved their victory.
