Golfing day nets £10,000 for Rainbows
RAINBOWS Hospice has received more than £10,000 thanks to a housebuilders’ golfing day.
Seventy two employees and subcontractors from Barratt and David Wilson Homes took part in the tournament at Ramsdale Park Golf Centre in Calverton, Notts.
Hayley Purser, corporate partnership fundraiser at Rainbows, was welcomed to the event by managing director Mark Cotes and commercial director James Peryer.
The £5,101 raised on the day has been matched by parent company, Barratt Developments, bringing the total money raised for the Loughborough-based charity to £10,202.
The tournament was won by a team from Cawarden Demolition and an enjoyable afternoon was had by all, with Taylor Roofing and Gseal both join runners-up.
As the East Midlands’ only hospice for children and young people, Rainbows provides vital care and support to families impacted by lifelimiting conditions.
Currently, Rainbows provides end of life care and symptom management; it has introduced new services such as its Support at Home Service and Emergency Stays.
It is continuing to support the NHS through the Covid pandemic while also being there to support parents and siblings through their bereavements.
Hayley said: “This was a fabulous day and it was great that it could still go ahead. Events like this are crucial to the fundraising we do at Rainbows and on behalf of our children, young people and their families, I would like to thank everyone who took part.”
Mark Cotes said, “The tournament was a great day of golf enjoyed by all, made even better knowing that we were raising vital funds for such a worthwhile cause.
“As a leading developer, we strive to contribute towards local communities in which we build, and we’re very pleased that our golf day was able to raise over £10,000.”
