CHRISTMAS FAYRE CANCELLATION.

-

to hold our annual church fête in its usual format (especially on such a lovely day!) but everyone rallied around for a different kind of event for which we are really grateful. Prior to the day, Marion Bason kicked off proceedings with her plant stall and coffee & cake in the garden and Clara North made delicious pizzas for a number of us in the village.

Then on Saturday afternoon, which should have been the day of the church fête, people were able to walk round the village and visit stalls at the houses of Sue Ponting, Peter & Terry Tyers, Jenny Abram, Jennie Austen & John Mather, Rob & Anna Caves and Brian & Sue Archbold. We are so grateful to all those who welcomed people to their stands and to those who walked round the village visiting the various venues. We were lucky to just make it before the ‘rule of six’ was put in place! We have also had some very generous anonymous personal donations and support from local businesses. The “Not the Church Fête Fund” has now reached the amazing sum of almost £3200. Thanks very much to everyone! The joiner is beginning the kitchen area behind the organ soon.

With the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, the Normanton on Soar Christmas fayre will sadly not be held this year. The annual event has proven very popular and is a lovely social occasion with money raised going towards the village’s historic St James Church. Many thanks to Sue Ponting who has kindly organised this event in the past.
