Foodbank benefits from generosity of college students
STUDENTS and staff at Charnwood College celebrated Hallowe’en by donating food and a £300 cheque to their local Loughborough Foodbank.
The foodbank relies on donations alone, and this contribution will mean a steady source of food for many who would otherwise struggle to access it. #
The college, which itself has above the national average of students on free school meals, understands the essential role of foodbanks in the community and by pulling its own community together, has protected many more families in the days and weeks to come.
Principal of Charnwood College, Alastair O’Connor, said: “We are thrilled to be able to contribute to the Loughborough Area Foodbank in this way.
“It is incredibly important to us here that we support our local community here at Charnwood. Especially as we enter this second lockdown, doing our bit to help the community is of the upmost importance and I am so proud of the work that our students and staff have done to make this happen.
“We look forward to continuing to support Loughborough Area Foodbank and other worthy causes in the future.”
