Eco-friendly, anti-bacterial, breathable face mask? Couple’s got it covered
A COUPLE from Woodhouse Eaves have created an innovative face mask which they hope will help prevent the spread of coronavirus in a hygienic way while minimising waste.
Jo and Steve Pole have created the facelet, a three-layer filtered covering designed to be wrapped around your wrist when not in use.
The machine washable mask wraps around your wrist like a bracelet, to protect the part that covers your mouth from contamination, and is patented in the UK, EU and US.
Jo said: “From an idea during lockdown, a thought that there must be a better way to carry masks and our despair at seeing the amount of disposable masks and gloves being discarded in the countryside, I thought that there had to be a better solution.
“The idea came during one sleepless night and after some home sewing attempts, the facelet was born.
“The fact that between us we’ve managed to invent, design, protect and produce a premium quality face mask that’s received great reviews and is unique in the marketplace in that it can be conveniently and safely stored on your wrist is absolutely amazing.
“We’re so pleased with the product and the fact that people love it,” added Jo.
So far, they have sold about 20,000 masks, with large orders from big brands including Fraser Place and Malmaison hotels, but they want to reach out to companies in their area who could benefit from their unique piece of PPE kit.
Jo said: “We’ve noticed that as businesses are starting to get busier or are thinking about getting back to work, there has been a big increase in interest in the facelet.
“While we all want to get back to normal, it will take some time yet and face masks can only help speed up this move back to normality.
“Businesses are loving the fact that the facelet can be fully branded in their colours and shows that not only they care about the environment, but they also care about their staff by providing them with the facelet – a three-ply, anti-bacterial, comfortable, breathable face mask that they will never forget again.”
