Park seeks director to help shape the future

- bradgatepark.org/join-our-team

BRADGATE Park is finally set to get a new director, more than 16 months after the previous incumbent quit.

Peter Tyldesley left the post after seven years in September 2019, claiming that he was being frozen out of discussions about the park’s future.

Now the trust, which is chaired by Leicestershire County Council leader Nick Rushton, is advertising for a new “visionary leader” for the park.

The job advert states: “Bradgate Park Trust is looking for an exceptional and commercially astute director to deliver the next stage of the charity’s 10-year strategic plan.

“Working with the strategic support of a committed, passionate and knowledgeable board of trustees, the director will be the driving force of the strategic plan: A Vision for our Centenary 2017 to 2027.”

The advert states the post will have a salary of between £45,000 and £55,000, and that the director will be responsible for finding new ways to generate income, as well as lead conservation work. The park has recently had to borrow £180,000 from local councils to cover the impact of the coronavirus lockdown. The attraction asked both Leicestershire County Council and Leicester City Council to lend it £90,000 each.

The job advert also calls for candidates who will be able to inspire the staff at the park.

It says: “The right candidate will be a visionary leader with a positive and proactive mindset. The candidate will be passionate about stewarding our natural environment and history.

“The director will have the skills to embrace the passions of the staff team and channel them into practical output and measurable results.”

Applications close at noon on Thursday, February 18, with video interviews taking place in early March.
