Normanton on Soar

ST JAMES CHURCH, NORMANTON ON SOAR. Although St James Church has continued to be open every day of the week for private prayer and meditation, it has been closed for worship during the COVID-19 lockdown. It has been agreed to reopen the church for worship and it was good to be able to return for a service of Morning Prayer last Sunday. Everyone felt safe, with sanitisers available in the porch, masks worn and social distancing in place. The church will continue to be open daily but on Sundays there will be a service held each week at 9:30 am. Singing is still not allowed in Church but we can sit and listen to the music being played on the organ. Next Sunday is Mothering Sunday and a service of Holy Communion will be led by the Revd Canon Michael Knight. All are welcome.

QUIET SPACES AT ST JAMES’… JULIAN GROUP. The regular monthly ‘Julian Meetings’ at St. James’ Church, Normanton on Soar, encourages one another in the practice of contemplative prayer. Julian of Norwich’s writings inspire us to be still, silent and receptive in God’s presence, trusting Him to make Himself known to us. As we currently can’t meet for these groups in person, we are sending out the meditations by email and suggesting that people set aside some time at home – possibly at the same time. It’s really encouraging how many people follow the group. Our times together are based on the simple idea of spending at least half an hour in silence, waiting on God. You can find more information on the website: www. thejulianmeetings.net or email sue.archbold@ btinternet.com. Our Julian Groups are at 6:30pm on the fourth Tuesday of the month so the next dates will be Tuesday 23rd March and 27th
