ANNUAL PARISH MEETING. To all electors in the parish of mountsorrel - you are entitled to attend your annual parish meeting.

The Annual Parish Meeting may by law discuss all Parish affairs and pass resolutions about them although these are not binding on the Council. MOUNTSORREL MEMORIAL CENTRE. During a recent governance review, it was identified that the lease Mountsorrel Parish Council had entered into with the War Memorial Trust was deemed to be “ultra vires”.
This meant that the lease was not valid in its current form and that the council needed to consider its position.
At the parish meeting held on 15th. March 2021, the parish manager gave an update on the discussion that had taken place and confirmed that the War Memorial Trust have accepted, in principle, new arrangements for the Memorial Centre.
These new arrangements are that the Centre will be run by an arm’s length company and not by the parish council. Detailed plans for the implementation of such are being drawn up for discussion with the War Memorial Trust. It is anticipated that these will be completed within three months. MOUNTSORREL QUARRY. Employees at the quarry are committed to being part of the local community. They are keen to work with local organisations to personally give support. Unfortunately, due to COVID, this has not always been possible in the last year, but there should be opportunities in the coming months.
