Ian swaps the Square for the Curve

SOAP STAR ADAM WOODYATT IS COMING WITH PLAY

- News Reporter By FRANCESCA WRIGHT

EASTENDERS star Adam Woodyatt will take the leading role in a “thrilling” new stage production at Curve this summer.

The new play, Looking Good Dead, is adapted from a best-selling novel by Peter James, the writer of the ITV hit drama Grace, starring John Simm.

The production features the same character, Detective Superintendent Roy Grace, in a new case.

The second stop of the tour will be at Curve, in the city’s Cultural Quarter, from June 28 to July 3.

Award-winning actor Adam Woodyatt is the longest-serving cast member in EastEnders.

He has played the character of Ian Beale since the show began in 1985.

Looking Good Dead marks Adam’s return to the stage for the first time since 1982.

In the story, Woodyatt’s character Tom Bryce inadvertently becomes a witness to a vicious murder.

However, reporting the crime to the police has disastrous consequences, placing him and his family in grave danger. Det Sgt Roy Grace becomes involved in the investigation but he has his own demons to contend with as he tries to crack the case in time to save lives.

Adam said: “I am so excited to be swapping The Square for the road in the world premiere stage production of Peter’s fantastic novel.

“I can’t wait to tour the UK and to experience the feeling of performing this thrilling play in front of a live audience every night.

“There are not many things that would persuade me to take a break from EastEnders, but this is one of them.”

Adapted for the stage by awardwinning dramatist Shaun Mckenna, the team behind Looking Good Dead said it promises to keep you on the edge of your seat until the final chilling moments.

Tickets can be booked via Curve’s website.
