LCFL league gets cup competitions underway
WITH the Leicestershire County Football League 2020-21 season declared null & void the league decided to introduce two cup competitions, The MDH Teamwear Trophy for Premiership and Championship sides with the League One, Two and Three sides playing in the Cobbin Trophy.
In the MDH Teamwear Trophy Group A Falcons beat Bottesford FC Reserves 3-0, Joe Moxom, Danny Pownall and Dolton Taylor with the Falcons goals. Leicester Athletico United won 5-0 away at Kegworth Imperial, Farah Ashkir (2), Hamdi Barreh, Ayuub Hassan and Abdiwakil Kowsar with the Athletico goals. Leicester Rangers beat Queniborough FC 6-0, Dan Belton (3), Giuseppe Gilberti (2) and Kurt Corry with the Rangers goals.
Group B saw a brace from Adam Smith give Sileby Athletic a 2-0 win away at Loughborough United. Iqra FC beat Narborough Foxes 1-0, Jowa Mbome with the Iqra goal. Houghton Rangers were held to a 2-2 draw at home by St. Patricks, Arjuna Govia and Bradley Smith for Houghton, Danny Cocks and Michael Gilbert for St. Patricks.
In Group C FC Coalville beat AFC Andrews, Ashley Henshall scoring the only goal of the game. Scraptoft United beat Shepshed Amateurs 2-0, Kane Peden and Kyle Gaskin with the Scraptoft goals.
In the Cobbin Trophy Group A Goals from Tony Cole (3), Daniel Ogden, Jake Purple and Karl Green gave Broomleys a 6-1 win at home to Northfield Emerald Development, Rio Fieldsend for Northfield. Athletica Sparta drew 2-2 with Woodhouse Imperial, Matty Walker and Cezary Slazak for Astra, Craig Tebbs hitting both the Woodhouse goals.
In Group B Mountsorrel FC beat Welford Victoria 3-2, Harry Thorne, Charlie Harris and Jacob Throop for Mountsorrel, Will Oldham and Harry Devlin for Welford. Huncote S&S won 5-2 away at Shepshed Amateurs Reserves, Bailey Beresford (2), Will Finch, Callum Brown and Todd Shingler for Huncote, Duane Earp and Jamal Tedds for Shepshed.
In Group C goals from Brandon Dennis (4), Morgan Lord, Jordan Walmsley, Sam Wallace (2) and Jared Cross gave Dunton & Boughton United Reserves a 9-0 win at home to Loughborough United Reserves. Old Aylestone Reserves beat Broughton Rangers 4-0, Connor Tuckley (2), Dain McPherson and Roberto Peroli with the Aylestone goals.
In Group D CK Dons beat Woodhouse Imperial Reserves 10-1, Dan Marshall (2), Alex Johnson (2), George Simpson (2), Ryan Young, Lee Mann, Levi Routen and Aaron Richardson for the Dons, Josh Adkin replying for Woodhouse. Asfordby FC Development won 3-1 at home against Sutton Bonington Reserves, Leon Watson, Rhys Hill and Josh Brown for Asfordby, Loz Al-Hariri for Sutton.
In Group E Magna 73 Reserves won 4-0 away at Allexton & New Parks Reserves, Kaiyle Williams (2), Alex Bates and Ruari O’Boyle with the Magna goals. Brookside Athletic beat North Kilworth 2-1, Karl Duncan and Talvin Shankar for the Athletic, Scott Hardy for Kilworth.
Group F saw Quorn Rangers beat Leicester Bharat Daman 3-0, Mitch Clarke, Harvey East and Josh Herrod with the Quorn goals. Whetstone Athletic Reserves won 3-0 away at St. Patricks Reserves, Lewis Halford, Joel Lane and Lewis Johnson for Whetstone.
