Casting set to take place for The Taming of the Shrew

-

The New Quorndon Shakespeare Company is searching for cast members to star in a bank holiday production of The Taming of the Shrew.

The company is looking for a feisty Kate and a charming Petruchio as well as a host of other comic characters for their August Bank Holiday production of the Shakespeare classic.

A casting meeting will take place at 7.30pm on Thursday, May 20 at Quorn Village Hall.

An open-air production provides an opportunity for local amateur actors to perform again this summer, and casting for this production is open to everyone over 16 years of age.

The NQSC intends to pull out all the stops to make sure that this postlockdown production is thoroughly entertaining.

The company aims to create a lively, colourful spectacle based around a medieval tournament with plenty of music, action, and comedy.

The NQSC is also looking for musicians to support the production with traditional songs, such as Lillibulero and The Cuckoo’s Nest.

The production will take place on Stafford Orchard in Quorn, Leicestershire, on August 28, 29, and 30 2021.

The casting meeting will be very informal and rehearsals will comply with COVID-19 restrictions.

Performances will also comply with any restrictions still in place in August, and the audience will be protected from rain (and shine) by an open-sided marquee.

Contact the company by email here or call 01509 567176 and leave a message if you are interested in taking part.

Alternatively, you can come along to Quorn Village Hall on Thursday, May 20 at 7.30pm.
