PITCHING IN NORTHERN PREMIER LEAGUE MIDLANDS DIVISION SHEPSHED DYNAMO 1 CARLTON TOWN 1

ON THEIR return to Step 4 in the non league pyramid Shepshed Dynamo would be happy with their performance and a share of the points against Carlton Town at the Dovecote.

In a goalless first half Carlton showed their experience of playing regular step 4 football but both teams were void of clear cut chances as the half ended goalless.

Shepshed grew in confidence second half but against the run of play Aaron Opoku gave Carlton the lead. Shepshed equalised through Karl Demidh and the final 15 minutes the game swayed either way, but the draw was a fair result.

Dynamo were not over awed with promotion as in the first minute Reece Morris latched onto a ball over the top but his shot was straight into Kieran Preston.

Preston then saved from Demidh, before Carlton’s Lawrence Gorman’s cross went over on three minutes.

Liam Canavan’s free kick was headed backwards on six minutes and Preston put a threatening ball which Matty White dealt with.

Two minutes later White punched clear from a corner with Tyler Blake heading wide from the clearance.

The Miller’s best chance of the half came on 17 minutes Blake hitting the crossbar and following up with the rebound wide.

Dynamo’s best chance of the half came on 23 minutes White’s clearance found John King on the right hand side he cut inwards with his shot saved by Preston. Demidh picked up the ball on the left and found Starkie who fired wide.

Dynamo came out second half confidently in the first minute Canavan’s free kick was met by the head of Wolfe but straight into Preston.

Canavan was again unlucky on 47 minutes his through ball was just too strong for King. A minute later Starkie fired wide, three minutes later White did well coming out to Opoku and Blake then fired wide.

Against the run of play Carlton took the lead Opoku latching onto a ball over the top on 65 minutes beating White.

Shepshed were determined to gain something from their return to the Northern Premier League and five minutes later Morris pulled the ball to Shaquille O’Neill Brooks his pinpoint cross was met by Demidh to level the score.

Josh Mundell off the bench then fired into Preston on 78 minutes and was put through by Morris a minute later.

Carlton came on strong in the final five minutes with Louis Czerwak firing over on 86 minutes, Tolani Omotali straight at White a minute later.

With time running Jordan Smith did well to clear for a corner in the final minute and Wolfe blocking Czerwak in injury time.

All in all a point was a fair result and prior to the game a majority at Shepshed Dynamo would have taken a point on their return to the Northern Premier League.
