I could not get through to surgery let alone make an appointment

-

Reference main article page 8 on September 15, I have a complaint.

Dr Paul Danaher is putting the onus of blame on patients for not going to their NHS GP’s with worrying symptoms. When it is the other way around and the simple fact is, it’s the GP’s who are still refusing to see patients even with serious symptoms.

I know I could not even get through on the telephone to my allocated surgery let alone see or even talk to a GP earlier in the year, I am truly thankful we had BUPA to fall back on, but many others are not lucky enough to have this essential service. This is why there is a deluge of people attending the walk-in centre in Loughborough. The Echo must surely be aware of this fact by the number of letters to the editor in reference to this problem?

Both Gorse Covert, Loughborough and Hathern surgeries are still today refusing to see patients face to face and my friends in Leicester assure me they have a similar story. My friend ended up being blue lighted which left her with kidney and liver damage because her GP and even the out of hours services refuse to see her for what would have been a treatable infection if seen by her GP.

I therefore request not only an apology but also an acknowledgment of the terrible situation locally and nationally in people being able to access quick and effective treatment from their GP’s.

Just to add I am in correspondence with Jane Hunt MP who is already very aware of this problem in her constituency.
