ST JAMES CHURCH ROOF. At the recent Quinquennial Report on the church premises by the Diocese-recognised Architect, there was a list of items relating to the church roof. We contacted Rob Snaith of Fairway Roofing who was joined on the roof by Peter Tyers to discuss the work required. Rob and his colleagues,

Billy and Dan, returned to the church recently to carry out the work. They sorted out the most serious problems – replaced tiles, cleaned gutters and dressed and repointed leadwork in two places.

It’s good to have this work carried out before the autumn/winter and, as a wonderful example of community spirit, they have decided that this work will be on them and that there will be no charge. Furthermore, they have kindly offered one day per year for maintenance on the church roof, again free of charge.

Their kind offer of annual maintenance means that we can keep on top of any roofing problems before they become serious.

On thanking Rob, Billy and Dan, they commented: “It’s our pleasure, despite being attacked by a squirrel, nesting in one of the lead hoppers, a first for me! It was a thoroughly hot and enjoyable day working on a plot with some history.” Thanks again – very much appreciated. re-using original stone at Rectory Farm, Widmerpool Road Wysall.
