FEARON HOPES TO BETTER BRONZE MEDAL FROM PREVIOUS OLYMPICS
BOBSLEIGH star Joel Fearon has received a massive boost ahead of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics in February next year.
Fearson, 33, who trains in Loughborough, had been looking for financial support as he steps up his preparations for the Games.
Now The Recruitment Group, which has offices nationwide including Leicester, Loughborough and a new office in Nottingham, have stepped in to help him.
Fearon, right, said: “It was an Olympics that I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to compete at because of financial and family pressures.
“The Recruitment Group have stepped in and saved the day.
“Their support means the world to me as it will enable me to fly the flag for my country in Beijing.” The Coventry-born Birchfield Harrier sprinter has a personal best of 9.96 seconds in the 100m, placing him fifth on the UK’s all-time list. But he is now focused on adding to his medal collection in the bobsleigh after winning a bronze medal at the Sochi Winter Olympics in 2018.
Fearon said: “I am really grateful and thankful to have the support of a company that are steeped in their local communities. “Post the Olympics we are looking to further develop our partnership through the work I do in schools.” Aw a y from the slopes , Fearon helps to support the next generation of athletes through the sprint charity Speedworks. He is currently going into schools across the United Kingdom to work with school children, teaching them the benefits of sport and inspire them to achieve their dreams.
