PITCHING IN NORTHERN PREMIER LEAGUE MIDLANDS LOUGHBOROUGH DYNAMO 5 SHEPSHED DYNAMO 0

LOUGHBOROUGH Dynamo put in a five star performance to beat Shepshed Dynamo 5-0 in the Dynamo Derby writes James Kendrick.

A crowd of 622 were at the Newton Fallowell Stadium to watch the game which is a record attendance for Loughborough Dynamo.

The build up to the game was quite chaotic for Loughborough as a covid outbreak in the squad meant they started the game without a recognised centre back in their squad.

However, they took the lead after just three minutes from a corner as Shepshed could only head the ball up rather than out and Tristan Matthews was on hand to poke the ball home and make it 1-0.

Despite the early goal the rest of the first half was quite tight with Shepshed creating the better chances.

Dempsey Arlott-John came close to equalising for Shepshed as he hit the woodwork twice from two long range efforts and Loughborough goalkeeper Jay Alexander had to make a few good stops from close range off shots by Arlott-John.

Both sides looked defensively vulnerable in the first half but neither side were able to fully take advantage of that in the first half.

However, no one was expecting the second half to play out in the way it did.

Three quick Loughborough goals in the first 12 minutes of the second half blew Shepshed away leaving the game all but over with 30 minutes left to play.

Just four minutes after half time Tristan Matthews dispossessed the Shepshed defender and the ball fell to Courey Grantham who was alone in the box and beat the keeper to make it 2-0.

hen just five minutes later Courey Grantham was bundled over in the area and the referee immediately blew for a penalty.

Curtis Burrows stepped up to take it and he beat the keeper to make it 3-0.

Shepshed were reeling from Loughborough’s quick start and just three minutes later they’d conceded another one.

Loughborough broke after winning the ball back in their own half and Kevin Bastos was played through one-on-one and his low shot made it 4-0.

Things settled down again after the fourth goal and Shepshed regrouped and spent most of the rest of the game pushing to get a goal back.

However, despite all of their pressure and possession they never really managed to create any more clear cut chances.

There was still time however, for debutant Kyle Jardine who is on loan at Loughborough from Coalville to get a debut goal for the club. He cut into the box past his marker and found the bottom corner to make it 5-0.
