Free help to heat home offered – for a limited time by fund
WARM HOMES FUNDING TO END IN EARLY PART OF 2022
ELIGIBLE householders are being urged to get free help to heat their homes before funding is withdrawn.
The Warm Homes Fund Project provides advice and support and has helped with new gas connections and first-time central heating systems fitted free of charge.
Residents can also get cavity wall and loft insulation and grants to help repair broken heating.
Antony Massey, Warm Homes Co-ordinator at Age UK Leicester
Shire and Rutland, which co-ordinates the scheme with the county council and E.on, said: “Over the past two years, Warm Homes has helped more than 3,700 households to reduce their energy bills and could help you prepare for a warmer winter this year.
“It is important people take advantage of this project sooner rather than later as it is due to end early next year.”
Noel, from Leicestershire, applied to the initiative this year.
Previously, he had a gas fire and warmed his house using a single storage heater in the kitchen.
This meant that it was difficult to efficiently warm the rest of his home and electricity bills were high.
Warm Homes funded the installation of first-time gas central heating including a new boiler, all free.
“From application to fitting, I have found the Warm Homes Fund to be an easy process,” said Noel.
“The team that installed my boiler and central heating were experienced and competent.
“The new system is better than the single electric heater I had before. My home feels much cosier to be in this winter. I’d encourage anybody who is eligible to apply and see how they can benefit.”
Nigel Dewbery, director of residential solutions at E.on UK, said: “This is a time-limited offer, and for those who qualify it presents a real opportunity to replace your inefficient home heating with a system that’s better for the environment and your budget.
“It’s important to know that you don’t have to be an E.ON customer now or in the future to benefit from the scheme.”
