BRING AND SHARE LUNCH. A Bring and Share Lunch will be on offer at East Leake St Marys parish church on Sunday this coming weekend, April 14, After the All-Age service. The lunch will be from about 12.15pm and all will be welcome to be there, to share food, family and friendship across the congregati­ons.

Those able are being asked to sign up on a provided sheet at the back of the church, indicating their plans to be attending and to give an idea of what they will be able to, take as an offer, a Main, Side or Dessert. And on the sane sheet there is an opportunit­y to indicate if you are able and would like to help with co-ordinating on the day with such as movement of tables, setting out the food and washing up.

LITTER PICK. A special event is being held in East Leake aimed at a way to keep the parish tidy and clean.

A Community Litter Pick is being organised for Saturday and Sunday April 27 and 28 between 10am-12pm add 2pm-4pm and is being organised by the East Leake Parish Council.

Entry from those people willing to take part is at the parish office and all equipment needed will be provided to those involved, as well as refreshmen­ts being provided. And to encourage youngsters to being involved there will be special prizes for them on both days.

MOTHERS’ UNION. The history of St Cuthbert -- born in the year 635 in the Scottish borders—was the subject of a talk given to East Leake Mothers’ Union members when one of their own, Mrs Jan Bonser, was the speaker for the meeting . The meeting was told of the early life of Cuthbert with his foster mother. Early in his life he was a shepherd in the wilds of Northumber­land and later became a Monk and joined the Abbey at Melrose. Latyer he became Guest Master at Ripon Cathedral, carrying out the Celtic traditions of hospitalit­y and welcoming to all people.

Meetings of the branch are held on the second Monday of each month, except in August.

MEADOW PARK. Residents in East Leake are being reminded of the excellent facility they available to them through Meadow Park.

The Park consists of seven fields and a storm water saloon bordering the Kingston Brook, near the centre if the village. The area was given to the village by the Kirk Family to be a permanent leisure facility, while also incorporat­ing an important element of wild life conservati­on.

Some of the fields are cut for hay or silage and left uncut for natural regenerati­on. All are open to pedestrian­s.

The main entrance is accessible from the Gotham Road car park --near the bowling green – or from Main Street by a footpath to the right of Manor Farm Meadow. Other entrances to the park are from Bateman Road, Gotham Road – opposite Stonebridg­e Drive – The Burrows and Nixon Walk.

There are about three miles of footpaths in the park, The main north – south route, Kingfisher Walk, has an all weather surface, the rest can be muddy at times. There are no stiles and it is an ideal place for healthy walking.

SPRING CONCERT. The Charnwood Concert Band are to present a Spring Concert of music to celebrate the lighter nights at St Marys Church at East Leake on Saturday April 27. It is due to start at 7.00pm and tickets at £7 50p include attendance and refreshmen­ts.

Tickets are available from the village Greengroce­rs at 67 Main Street in the village. Processed will go towards future CCB concerts in the community.

SELF STORAGE. East Leake has a self storage facility available, with it offering the opportunit­y to local residents—and of course others—160 feet square new container located inside building with an undercover load and unload facility. Onsite security is offered and it serves both domestic and commercial needs and house move storage, both long and short term. The service can be contacted on 01509 856700.

St Mary’s parish church at East Leake is offering Taize Contemplat­ive worship on Sunday April 14, with the service due to start at7.00pm, with opportunit­y for quite reflection both before and afterwards.

VIEWS WELCOMED. The Parish Council at East Leake is assuring residents that it continues to strive to provide a full range of informatio­n and resources to benefit all members of the community and to this end they say in a message to everyone they would welcome their news and views. “Whether you are a resident, newcomer or visitor to the parish, don’t hesitate to contact us,” say the council.

CHURCH MEETING. Members of St Mary’s parish church at East Leake are being reminded the annual parochial church meeting is taking place in church on Monday May 13. It will be starting at 7.30pm.
