PLANT SALES. Two Spring Plant Sales are being held in Diseworth, with funds raised going to the parish church of St Michael and All Angels Church.

The two events will be on Saturday May 11, at 17 Clements Gate in the village, and Saturday May 25, at the church itself.

In an Advertising for the event, the church says if anyone has not got their tomato plants, cabbages, peppers, courgettes or bedding plans yet, that the two events are an ideal place for anyone to make up their deficiencies. And the message also invites those attending to take their spare plants as well as buying those they need. There will also be many perennials and shrubs available.

The organisers say all offers of plants will be most gratefully accepted and people making donations are being asked to take their items to the venue before 9.30am for labelling and pricing.

Both the events will be running from 10am to 12noon.

VILLAGE SHOW. Plans are well advanced for the annual 2024 Diseworth Village Show,,

taking place on Saturday September 7. A number of the group responsible for the 2023 show stood down and so for this year a good number of new helpers will be busy, but more will be welcome.

The classes for the show, numbering over 60, have been confirmed with the various sections being flowers, flower arrangement, fruit and vegetables, and two classes under the heading Something Different which will be a handmade jewellery item and a summer bonnet.

The other sections are home made produce, photography, art and handicrafts, Diseworth Heritage trophy for a painting or a drawing of a Scene in Diseworth, and children’s classes in which there are eight classes for children 12 years and under.
