Two companies make extra buses available to East Midlands Airport as holiday season nears

MORE buses are now available as an alternative way to get to East Midlands Airport, following timetable changes by two bus companies.

Trentbarton and its sister company Kinchbus have added extra trips as more customers use its Skylink service as holiday season approaches.

From Monday to Saturday, buses run every 15 minutes on Skylink Derby, which connects Derby, Leicester and Loughborough with East Midlands Airport and the employment sites around it. There are also extra buses early in the morning and late in the evening each day.

The changes are timed to coincide with the airport’s busiest times of the year, but some services are being reduced under the timetable alterations.

There will be fewer journeys that go via Castle Donington Bus Station during peak times under the new timetable and reductions to the number of services going to the DHL depot at the airport. All single bus fares are currently capped at £2. Buses stop at a number of bus stops on the airport site, with the main station a short walk from both arrivals and departures.

Customer and planning director at East Midlands Airport, Mike Grimes, said: “We are delighted to see that just in time for our summer season, more buses will be serving the airport for customers, colleagues and workers at neighbouring sites.

“We’re all about making people’s airport experience easy and effortless, and having more buses providing increasingly reliable services gives people coming to the airport a great choice.” More information on bus timetable changes is available at:
