Dynamo see play off hopes end with draw

LOUGHBOROUGH DYNAMO 2 CORBY TOWN 2 Northern Premier League Midland Division

LOUGHBOROUGH Dynamo’s play off hopes came to an end on Saturday with a 2-2 draw at home to Corby Town writes James Kendrick. Despite being in the play offs for the majority of the season, Dynamo’s form in the last ten games has seen them slip out of the top five. But on the flip side, the point secured Loughborough a sixth place finish achieving their most successful season ever with one game left to play. Things were looking good for Loughborough midway through the first half when Rio Molyneaux picked out George Ball in the box who expertly found the bottom corner for his 12th goal of the season. That goal gave Dynamo the lead as the two teams came back out for the second half but Corby pushed forward, determined to get themselves level. On 55 minutes, Loughborough Dynamo goalkeeper Lewis King picked up a booking for a bit of a scuffle with an opposition player. And ten minutes later, King received his marching orders when a Corby Town player went past him with the ball and King brought him down and conceded a penalty and was shown a second yellow card. With no goalkeeper named on the bench, goalkeeping duties fell to striker Jack Gibson who couldn’t keep out the penalty by Reuben Marshall to level the game. Despite being down to ten men, Dynamo did push on again and substitute Evan Garnett got the hosts back in front as he fortuitously turned home a corner for his 20th league goal of the season. But it was always going to be a tough ask to prevent Corby from scoring again and Callum Milne equalised with four minutes to go to ensure both sides went home with a point.
