Hospice to open its doors for open day for 30th year

-

Open Day is about showcasing our wonderful facilities and letting people know about the amazing work our talented team does.

As part of its 30th year, Rainbows is welcoming people to visit its hospice in Loughborough.

On Saturday, April 27, visitors to the charity’s open day will see firsthand how their support makes a world of difference to the services and facilities available for babies, children, young people and their families.

Rainbows first opened its doors in 1994.

It was founded by Harry and Gail Moore whose daughter, Laura, died of leukaemia in 1989. Laura’s favourite thing in the world was a rainbow.

In April 1995, the hospice site in Loughborough was officially opened by HRH King Charles III, who was then HRH Prince of Wales.

Although the hospice is in Loughborough, Rainbows supports babies, children and young people with serious and terminal illnesses across the East Midlands. Families are cared for at the hospice, in their homes or in hospital.

Claire Hoggan, events fundraiser at Rainbows, invited people in Leicestershire to the event. She said: “Over the last 30 years, Rainbows has grown so much, and we provide such an incredible service to around 750 babies, children and young people.

“Open Day is about showcasing our wonderful facilities and letting people know about the amazing work our talented team does to make a difference to so many lives.

“We are very proud of the work we do but we couldn’t do it without your support. We hope you will join us for cake and a look around at our Open Day.” The event takes place at the hospice, in Lark Rise, Loughborough, from 10.15am to 4pm.

There is no charge for the event, but a booking system is in place to help the charity manage numbers safely.
